SUPER GAYO COFFEE

Coffee in Indonesia began with its colonial history, and has played an important part in the growth of the country. Indonesia is located within an ideal geography for coffee plantations. One of the most famous coffee is from Sumatra Gayo Mountain, Aceh. Aceh coffees are grown in the lovely mountain and all are grown in shade and almost all without chemicals. The Arabica coffee of Aceh Gayo is considered one of the premium coffee beans in the world. It has a fine aroma and a pretty low bitter taste. Aceh Gayo coffee beans grow in a distinctive type of soil in highlands, thus it almost impossible to find it in any other place outside its origin.

Two weeks ago when I passed Jl. Wolter Monginsidi area, I visited this traditional 'Super Gayo Coffee' with its signature Gayo Coffee beans . :) Just a small space with outdoor area and open kitchen concept. The location is easy to find, it's located in front of 'Wolter Bistro'. It's owned by Kin Aulia, one of personnel of The Fly Band. It's been opened since 3 months ago. At the time, I was interested to try their 'Kopi Tarik' & 'Teh Tarik', yes...before becoming now as a coffee addict, actually i was a BIG FAN of 'Teh Tarik' at any Kopitiam in Jakarta. :D

The best part is I could see directly their attraction when they made this 'Kopi Tarik' and 'Teh Tarik'. :) 'Teh Tarik' is a hot milk tea beverage which can be commonly found in restaurants, outdoor stalls. Its name is derived from the pouring process of ‘pulling’ the drink during preparation. It is made from black tea, condensed milk or evaporated milk. 'Kopi Tarik'' is equivalent of 'Teh Tarik'.

YES! The best pair ever when enjoy a glass of 'Teh Tarik' is accompanied by 'Fried Bananas'. It's big enough portion for two persons. :)

Overall, it's a good alternative if you guys want to try traditional Gayo Coffee or just try 'Teh Tarik' with its unique attraction. ;)

Anyone craving for some sweet treats? Yes, 'AMBER' is the answer. Just a short review because it's already opened since 27th December 2014. :D 'AMBER' is under same management with 'Negev', 'Harvest', 'Balboni Ristorante' & 'Chateau Blanc'. They are under 'Mount Scopus Group.'  'AMBER' is located in Senopati area, across to the famous 'CACAOTE.'  Pretty place with classic classy ambience but I just had my dessert at the moment, so i've got my table at the first floor. Actually, i love the second floor which's with library concept, but we should order their main course if you guys want to get the table on the upstairs.

Mix Feuille IDR 45.000,-

Mille Feuille is a traditionally French pastry which's made up of three layers of puff pastry, alternating with two layers of pastry cream, but sometimes whipped cream or jam are substituted . Usually, the top is glazed with icing or fondant in alternating white and brown stripes. I love this Mix Feuille by 'AMBER', not so sweet because mixed with slice of strawberry inside it, so this one is recommended to try. :) 

Fruit Custard Danish IDR 25.000,-

Nothing special, I like it more if they added more custard inside the danish. So far, still love Danish by 'Union Bakery' :D

Actually, it's pretty place to visit but classic theme & ambience is not my favourite right now but 'AMBER' is a good idea to satisfy our sweet cravings. :) They serve delightful pastries, macaroons, and good enough coffee also. Thank you, 'AMBER' for your very nice & quick service to us. :)

Nowadays, we have many alternatives of restaurants at East Mall, Grand Indonesia, they're 'NOMZ', 'Union Deli,  ' Egg Benedict' and the newest one is 'Caffe Milano' under Union Group. So, a little confused because all these places are interesting to visit. But, at the time let me try this one, 'Publik Markette.'

'Publik Markette' is  a brand new unique concept by 'ISMAYA Group'.  As we know that 'ISMAYA' is one of the leader in building lifestyle and hospitality industry. The newest one from 'ISMAYA' is 'Publik Markette' with the concept let your eyes choose what you want to eat, so almost same like food court. So, when you get your table with the number of your table, just go directly to food area and choose what you want. So, the best point is we know how the real presentation of our order. :) BUT...a little annoyed with the rule of many restaurants nowadays because you need to waiting list for uncertainty time, they don's ask your phone number to call you back after the table's ready to used. -_-!

Hmm..not looking good presentation but it's pretty yummy & tasty for this penne bolognese but it looks like a side dish portion, so it's over price for spending IDR 55.000,-. Nothing special for crushed potatoes,we should added more salt & pepper to make it more tasty. 

BBQ Beef Brisket IDR 155.000,- 

This one was too standard, just an ordinary because the texture should be more juicy. 

Bacon Spinach Quiche IDR 65.000,-

Quiche is a part of French cuisine, it's a savoury, open-faced pastry crust with a filling of savoury custard with cheese meat, seafood and/or vegetables.  It's pretty yummy, but as a cheese lover, i'd like it more if this added more cheese on the top or inside this quiche. :)

Bitter Sweet Love IDR 50.000,-

Must order for this one. I love the balance of sweet, a bit bitter & salty and the texture also. Recommended to satisfy my sweet craving! :)

Overall i love this place with unique concept, delish dessert, cool interior, cozy ambience and love all the songs on saturday nite. :)  But, be patient guys when waiting list at this place, we never know exactly how long we need to wait because this place is one of the hits spot at Grand Indonesia. :D
